Their voices may not blend quite as smoothly as milk and chocolate pudding mix, but watching Bob Dylan and Patti Smith perform Dark Eyes in 1995 at New York’s Beacon Theater is, for me, poignant and heart-warming on some unmentionable level. Click here to go to YouTube or play below.
I’m not one, these days, for making lists of favorites, but I would say right now that I think Dark Eyes is one of the three greatest songs Dylan has ever written. (It helps greatly not to have to name the other two.)
