A message from Barry…

Hey guys,

I wanted to let you know that I will no longer be on The View tomorrow as scheduled. I had made a request that I be interviewed by Joy, Barbara or Whoopi, but not Elisabeth Hasselback. Unfortunately, the show was not willing to accommodate this simple request so I bowed out.

It’s really too bad because I’ve always been a big supporter of the show, but I cannot compromise my beliefs. The good news is that I will be on a whole slew of other shows promoting the new album so I hope you can catch me on those.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck is the token conservative on ABC’s TV show, “The View,” which is described by ABC as a “highly caffeinated coffee klatch” and features four or five regular female hosts interviewing guests and talking about what they regard as the issues of the day.

So, among the beliefs which Mr. Manilow “cannot compromise,” we must assume, is his belief that one shouldn’t talk to someone with whom one disagrees politically, even if the discussion is completely unrelated to politics.

Remarkable. I know it’s only Barry Manilow, and it’s only “The View,” but gosh, how did people get so screwed up?
