Another side of Bob and more!

The widows cry, the orphans plea
Everywhere you look there's more misery
Come along with me babe, I wish you would
You know what I'm saying, it's all good
All good, I said it's all good, all good

Ray Wallace ...12:02 pm

I’ve been meaning to thank Spinout Records recording artist Ray Wallace for forwarding his fun CD, Introducing Ray Wallace. Some words from Ray that give an idea of his influences:

I am a staunch Bible-believing Jesus freak, a Zionist Jew (of the tribe of Levi), and an unabashed Bob Dylan fan. I’m also a big fan of Solzhenitsyn, Malcolm Muggeridge, Richard Wurmbrand, and George Gilder, to name an important few. Bob Dylan is my favorite Song & Dance man, but Leonard Cohen is my favorite living singer, now that Frank Sinatra is dead.

Solzhenitsyn takes some listening to pick up, but you can definitely hear some Dylanesque musical references, like the organ on the driving and catchy track Leni Riefenstahl, not to mention other kinds of homages on the song I’m Bob Dylan. But Wallace’s influences are many, and they are projected through a unique and often hilarious songwriting prism. You can hear some of his music via Real Player in the archives of radio station WMFU: e.g., That Man, and I’m Bob Dylan. If you find it’s your bag, his music is available through Amazon via downloads or on a conventional CD. Wallace will also be appearing at the Mecklenburg Inn in Shepherdstown, WV on February 9th, with his “Danelectro electric guitar and a full band.” Rock on.
