Too darn hot ...3:39 pm
The unusual freezing temperatures and snow storms in southern China continue to exact an enormous toll. (See BBC News reports here, here and here. ) Millions have been left without electricity and water supplies. Billions of dollars in damage has been done, including to crops, leading to a fear of food shortages down the road. Customary travel at the time of the Lunar New Year holiday has been thrown into chaos, with, at one point, 800,000 people waiting desperately at a train station in Guangzhou. Today, the U.S. and Singapore pledged aid.
Meanwhile, the global campaign to make the world colder continues.
