The Beacon News has a story on the “Dylan Eucharist Service” which took place two days ago at a United Methodist Church in Geneva, Illinois (mentioned in a previous post).
Within a sanctuary of stained glass and mahogany, the church’s nine-member band performed 12 of Dylan’s most notable soul-searching tunes, among them Blowin’ in the Wind, Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door and Gotta Serve Somebody.
“This is not a musical concert, rather we are here to praise God and let the poetry of Bob Dylan help us reflect on what God calls on for us,” Senior Pastor Bill Obalil told those gathered for the service.
