Ain’t Gonna Go ...1:30 pm
When the YouTube user “rankflv” had his account deleted (almost certainly due to copyright complaints from TV people, rather than Dylan people), among the clips lost were most of that famous 1980 concert in Toronto, the one which was professionally shot but never officially released. However, copies of that show are in pretty wide circulation amongst collectors — all the more so with the advent of Bittorrent file sharing — and it’s a pretty sure thing that the whole show will be up there again before too long. Like this clip, which is back there as of today: Ain’t Gonna Go To Hell For Anybody. (Click here to go to YouTube or play below.)
It was a stirring live number, but a song which was never recorded and released. The clip includes Bob’s funny remarks directed at Ronnie Hawkins, regarding “Renaldo and Clara.”
I can twist the truth as well as anybody
Find ’em and blind ’em, wine ’em and dine ’em
But it don’t serve my purposes, it ain’t my goal
To gain the whole world and give up my soul.
