Almost “Real Real Gone” ...10:19 am
Hat tip to Rich for the above subject line, and the link to this story at the Belfast Telegraph on Van Morrison’s recent alleged near-death experience at Belfast International Airport.
A fleet of fire engines and ambulances were called after the aircraft - carrying Van Morrison, two other passengers, the pilot and co-pilot - suffered undercarriage problems.
The aircraft’s pilot made contact with air control at around 12.15am and a full emergency was declared by security authorities.
According to airport sources, the plane flew past the air-traffic control tower twice in a bid to discover the sources of the problem.
The music legend had just finished playing a sold-out gig in Brecon, Wales, before he flew into Northern Ireland, where he has a house on the Co Down coast.
An airport spokeswoman said emergency procedures were deployed but the Citation 550 aeroplane landed safely and the alert was declared over by around 12.30am.
Mr Morrison’s assistant declined to comment on the matter.
Below is a Citation 550.
