Preceding Dylan’s performance of Solid Rock in this clip from Toronto in 1980 is a little taste of one of his famous “gospel raps.” It establishes the mood pretty well for what is a genuine and fervent delivery by all concerned. (And no, I don’t think he’s talking about Bono.)
By the way, tonight on the “Gospel Music Channel” in the U.S., the documentary “Gotta Serve Somebody: The Gospel Songs of Bob Dylan” will air for the first time at 8:30 pm. RWB does not pick up that channel from his cave deep in the heart of an undisclosed location, and so will be awaiting the DVD release.
