An article on Dylan’s forthcoming gig in San Sebastian, Spain:
SAN SEBASTIAN: Bob Dylan, the 1960s peace movement icon, will headline a free concert on Tuesday in the Basque city of San Sebastian lending support to the peace process in the region.
The concert at Zurriola Beach will be a “happening that will be remembered as a milestone in the path of peace”, according to the event’s organisers, who expect 50,000 people to attend.
“We are living days of hope when at last peace is possible. The gathering of thousands of people united by the music and over political ideas of any kind looks like the best way to symbolise this moment,” a statement said.
Ah, peace on earth.
Back in April I had a post about this same event, and quoted a media story that said “the artist has requested the event not be turned into a political occasion.”
In any case, it’s a nice thing of Dylan to do, and here’s hoping all goes well.
