Ann Powers at the LA Times had an early listen to Bob Dylan’s Together Through Life and has perhaps the most descriptive and evocative track by track synopsis yet.
That is, if you like that kind of thing. Still wish for the days I could hear a new album for the first time without all the advance leakage, but dems the breaks.
She implies that the song Jolene could indeed be another take on Dolly Parton’s original, as speculated in a previous post.

This bar-band romp imagines the “other woman” immortalized in Dolly Parton’s 1973 hit as a street-strutting queen for whom any man would leave any wife. “You’re something nice, I”m gonna grab my dice,” chortles the satyr as a down-home double-guitar riff propels him forward.
In any case, it all sounds like quite a blast.
