Compare these comments, if you will. Israel’s Ariel Sharon, in response to the shooting of Palestinian civilians by an Israeli:

Sharon condemned the shootings as acts of “Jewish terror” aimed at stopping the pullout. He said the violence was “aimed against innocent Palestinians, out of twisted thinking, aimed at stopping the disengagement.”

Meaning? Even in a time of great stress for Israeli settlers, seeing their own pulled from their homes by Israeli soldiers while Palestinians celebrate and fire mortars at them - even then, there must be no hesitation in condemning acts of terroristic violence against civilians.

From the same AP story, here is the Palestinian leader speaking to his people on the subject of violence against civilians:

Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas urged restraint, telling Islamic preachers in his Gaza office: “We should let them go peacefully in order not to give them any reason to delay the evacuation.”

Meaning? Don’t kill them now.

Kill them later.

The neighborhood bully been driven out of every land,
He’s wandered the earth an exiled man.
Seen his family scattered, his people hounded and torn,
He’s always on trial for just being born.
He’s the neighborhood bully.

Well, he’s surrounded by pacifists who all want peace,
They pray for it nightly that the bloodshed must cease.
Now, they wouldn’t hurt a fly.
To hurt one they would weep.
They lay and they wait for this bully to fall asleep.
He’s the neighborhood bully.
