More August 22nd scare-mongering from RWB: Iran has initiated “large-scale military exercises,” reportedly spread through almost half of the country’s provinces, and scheduled to go on for the next five weeks. The manoeuvres have been titled “The Blow of Zolfaghar.” Zolfaghar (or “Zulfiqar”) was supposedly a sword belonging to Mohammed and his son-in-law, Ali. It’s particularly significant to Shiites as they believe that Ali was the rightful successor of Mohammed. From Wikipedia:
According to legend, Ali used the sword to slice an opponent and his horse in half, and had the angel Gabriel not intervened, the swing would have split the entire earth in two.
