I’ve been following some of the action in Iran via Hot Air and other sources.

It’s not like Mousavi (one of the founders of Hezbollah) would necessarily have turned out to be so much better for everyone than Ahmadinejad — especially when it’s Khamenei who is really in charge — but, when it comes to elections in the Islamic Middle-East, it is the process that should be supported, if and when there is a democratic process. In Iran, the process wasn’t really democratic to begin with, but the people obviously feel that they are entitled to at least some veneer of reality to their election. Their protests to that end deserve support. The U.S. administration seems to be little interested in that, unfortunately.

The best reporting on what’s actually taking place seems to be coming from ordinary people on the scene, via YouTube, Twitter, Flickr, and whatever else is out there.

The video below appears to show a protest being hit by motorcycle-riding riot-police, after which at least one policeman is knocked off of his bike and later assisted by some in the crowd.

There are also rumors that foreign thugs — Hezbollah goons from Lebanon — are being employed in the clamp-down on protests, but then in situations as fast-moving as this there are many rumors.
