Cigareets, Whusky and Wild Wild Women ...10:17 pm
On a somewhat lighter note:
The oldest man in the world, Henry Allingham, resident of England, is 113 years and 14 days old today.
For someone who has seen three different centuries, six monarchs, two world wars (and 18 world cups), becoming the oldest living man is, perhaps, something of a non-event.
Mr Allingham is quieter these days, but no codger at heart. In contrast to Mr Tanabe’s asceticism [the former oldest man in the world, now deceased], he attributes his longevity to “cigarettes, whisky and wild, wild women”.
Listeners to “Theme Time Radio Hour” would have heard the song of which Mr. Allingham is likely thinking, on Bob’s show dedicated to “SMOKING.” It’s by Red Ingle and the Natural Seven.
