Another side of Bob and more!

Have you heard the news? he said, with a grin
The Vice-President's gone mad!
Where? Downtown. When? Last night
Hmm, say, that's too bad!

A song and an Iran update ...1:48 pm

From a famous live performance in Japan in 1994, this YouTube clip is Bob Dylan singing his magnificent song Ring Them Bells.

Ring them bells, ye heathen
From the city that dreams,
Ring them bells from the sanctuaries
Cross the valleys and streams,
For they’re deep and they’re wide
And the world’s on its side
And time is running backwards
And so is the bride.

….

The Iranian regime seems to have made more progress today towards cutting off some of the online avenues by which information has been coming out.

One thing not in dispute (it’s been announced by state media in Iran) is that the daughter of former President Rafsanjani has been arrested, along with four other relatives of his. Rafsanjani has been believed to be supporting Mousavi and working behind-the-scenes to gather additional supporters. He has been thought to be a figure that many in the establishment could coalesce around, including allegedly the all-important army. Clearly Khamenei is taking such a possibility seriously and is playing hard-ball. (Not that I’d suggest a bloody-handed dictator like him ever plays soft-ball.)

I’m no expert, but it would appear that this revolution is going to settle down for a extended grind. If the security forces can prevent the really vast crowds from gathering in the first place, then the chief weapon (actually the only real weapon) of the masses — their strength in numbers — might be effectively withheld from them. A general strike might be the next big card the reformers can play.

There is also some excellent blog coverage of the unfolding events by Pamela Geller at Atlas Shrugs.
