Tiresome? It sure is. And difficult to fathom. Over five days after being informed that they wrongly attributed a gravely misleading quote to Bob Dylan, the Christian Science Monitor has failed to issue a correction.

Both the writer of the piece and the Weekend Section editor have acknowledged that the quote attributed to Bob Dylan in 2003, which appeared in the Sept. 1st, 2006 edition of the Christian Science Monitor, was actually something said by producer Jerry Wexler in 1979 ( “[I'm] a 62-year-old Jewish atheist”).

Yet, the Christian Science Monitor continues to present this “Dylan quote” as fact on their website.

Their correction page still states:

The Monitor promptly corrects factual errors and welcomes comments and information that may call for correction.

I hate to bring it up, but does the world “wilful” come to mind?

Excuse me while I turn on XM Satellite Radio and tune into Bob Dylan’s “Theme Time Radio Hour.” This week, the theme is “The Bible.”
