A few days ago (Friday) the Christian Science Monitor issued a correction in print for their misattribution of a quote from Jerry Wexler (who in 1979 said he was “a 62-year-old Jewish atheist”) to Bob Dylan in 2003. (Original post here.)

That correction is now reflected online as well. Their correction page lists it here, and the original article no longer carries the inaccurate quote, and has a short note from the editor.

So, the only place this inaccurate quote now resides is in the memories of all the people who read it — and in any copies of the September 1st print edition still at large in the world. Hunting them down — the people and the papers — is an option I briefly considered but rejected on the grounds of impracticality, along with my antipathy towards air travel. Thanks to all who sent their own notes to the editors of the CSM, and to those who sent notes of support to yours truly. This case is now closed!
