This morning I saw a guest on C-Span’s morning show — Michael Schermer — taking calls from 9/11 conspiracy enthusiasts in the name of debunking their theories, which consist of a crazy quilt of interrelated insanities. When one appears to be faltering, it’s simply backed up by another.

For some reason, what comes to my mind is the aftermath of the O.J. Simpson murder trial, when many people — probably including me — said, “The only way O.J. could have been convicted is if they had a videotape of him slicing up Ron and Nicole.”

We were wrong.

No crime in history has been better documented on videotape — and in a myriad of other ways — than the attacks of September 11th. The World Trade Center collapsed in the media capital of the world, live on TV. Yet, no amount of evidence from their own eyes or from any other source will apparently convince those who prefer to believe what they prefer to believe. The kooks still have to answered, unfortunately, because unanswered lies, repeated over and over again, will one day be accepted as truth, as history proves over and over again. I salute those with the patience to painstakingly pick apart this evil garbage. I personally don’t have the stomach for it.
