Well, God is in his heaven
And we all want what’s his
But power and greed and corruptible seed
Seem to be all that there is

There’s an echo in those lines from the First Letter of Peter, Chapter 1:

Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

I also just noticed this, from earlier in the same chapter:

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

“And that fadeth not away.” A love that’s real and not fade away; so goes the Buddy Holly tune that Dylan covered in concert a great deal from around 1998 - 2000. Echo or not, or just kinda interesting — you decide.
