So, the tracklist hasn’t hit Amazon or BobDylan.com yet, but it appears to have been revealed on a German retail website, at this link.

Well, presuming this list is accurate (and I do) my immediate is response is: Fifteen songs!! Dynamite! I was thinking it might just be the minimal ten.

Other than that, the song Christmas Island is the only one that’s not a pretty familiar standard. It’s by Jimmy Buffett (who Bob talked up in a recent interview, if I recall). [Correction: That song is by Lyle Moraine, from 1946, and has been sung by many artists. Jimmy Buffett is just one of the more recent. See Dreamtime's much more scrupulous run-down on the tracklist.]

And yes, Bob is obviously singing some of the classic Christmas hymns, in addition to the Santa songs. This will be something, alright.

The song on this list that I find hardest to imagine him singing is Do You Hear What I Hear? Others may have different responses.

Finally, in the light of my most recent epic rant (Tears of Rage: The Great Bob Dylan Audio Scandal), what can we expect in the area of sound quality on this album? I have no idea. There does not appear to be a vinyl edition being offered this time around. I will for the moment take hope from that fact. Perhaps the real, undamaged, uncompressed, un-loud-ified recording will be on the CD this time around.

That would sure make a nice Christmas present from the folks at Sony/Columbia.
