Did a U.S. Air Force engine technician named Doug MacKenzie receive a postcard from Bob Dylan thanking him for telling Dylan about a “Masters Of War” logo painted on an air force jet during the 1990/91 Gulf War?

I’m not in a position to independently verify any of the facts. I can only say that the story has no false notes to my ears; it rings true. That includes the words on the postcard attributed to Dylan:

Dear Doug, Excuse the post card, that’s all there is to write on right now. Thank you for the letter describing my song on your airplane. Good luck wherever you go, G-d’s guidance will never let you down - Stay in good health and thanks again for writing. Bob Dylan.

… and the words on the letter he is said to have written back in reply to MacKenzie’s reply:

Dear Doug, Thanks for writing back. I’m glad to hear you finally made it safely home. The world isn’t very safe anymore. We owe a lot to people like you, who put themselves in harm’s way for their fellow countrymen. Thanks again for writing. Yours, Bob Dylan

Note also that the postcard, which is pictured, portrays a painting by L.M.D. Guillaume of “the surrender of General Lee to General Grant, April 9th, 1865.” Sounds like the kind of card that would catch Bob’s eye, does it not?
