Too many mornings ...6:04 pm
Below is a clip from YouTube of Bob Dylan doing the song One Too Many Mornings in Münster, Germany in the year 2000.
Back in the mists of time, I actually posted an audio clip of the very same performance, and rambled on about it at length. I theorized that what Dylan does in the musical outro of this performance — improvising a riff on his guitar and then transferring it to his harmonica — may be an illustration of that mysterious way of playing guitar which he says, in Chronicles, that he was taught by Lonnie Johnson.
Whatever it is he’s doing, it works. It’s a magnificent performance of the song — sheer magic.
(The camera work starts out very woozy, but quickly settles down and ends up actually very good, as these things go.)
