Another side of Bob and more!

He got a sweet gift of gab, he got a harmonious tongue
He knows every song of love that ever has been sung
Good intentions can be evil
Both hands can be full of grease
You know that sometimes Satan comes as a man of peace

Video for Little Drummer Boy by Bob Dylan ...4:14 pm

Go to the Christmas In the Heart page on Amazon.com today and scroll down to view a new animated video for Bob Dylan’s version of Little Drummer Boy. It’s curious and not any literal vision of the song’s narrative but really quite nice. The CD is also on sale today at Amazon, for a limited time, for only $6.99 — a definite bargain.

Addendum: Here’s the video via YouTube. It’s grown on me. I like it a whole lot.

I finally received the vinyl LP edition of Christmas in the Heart in the mail today. Yes — two weeks after the release date, but enough complaining. I haven’t had the time yet to do a proper comparison of sound quality with the CD, but I’ll definitely do so and report back. I have to say, though, that I’ve been enjoying the CD just fine, notwithstanding my belief that it was mastered with excessive loudness. The spirit of the album is such that it’s just almost impossible to stop grinning whenever I listen to it.

The free 7-inch single of Must Be Santa with a b-side of ’Twas the Night Before Christmas is very nicely done, and in nice red vinyl. Brings back memories for me of a once-treasured 78 rpm edition of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, by Burl Ives, that I listened to as a child. A thick red record, of the type that would shatter if you dropped it on the floor, and I guess it did get broken eventually. You’d think, listening to 78s, that I grew up in the 1940s — but no, this was the 1970s. What can I say? I only got a color TV in the late ’90s (and I’m beginning to have second thoughts about that).

By the way, I discovered when buying an edition of the CD at a local store as a gift that they were also giving away that promotional 7-inch single. I didn’t realize that this was happening at brick-and-mortar stores, versus just Skryoo.com, but perhaps that’s true at an outlet near you too.
