Strangers ...4:11 pm
Rank Strangers To Me is a song which Bob Dylan recorded for his strange hodge-podgy album of 1988, namely Down in the Groove. I think that it stands out very starkly on that record; a merciless performance. He’s also performed it live more than once. The song — which you could say is one that doesn’t pussy-foot around — is credited to Albert E. Brumley. Below is a clip from, yes, YouTube, of the Stanley Brothers delivering a shimmering version of the song. I don’t know exactly from when, but sometime during the 1950s would be my best guess.

Addendum: This is going out especially today to a certain Secretary of Defense, currently visiting the troops in Iraq, who, as we know, enjoys this kind of music a great deal.
