Another side of Bob and more!

One more night, I will wait for the light
While the wind blows high above the tree.
Oh, I miss my darling so,
I didn't mean to see her go,
But tonight no light will shine on me.

Note to Bob’s lawyers ...9:45 am

The film “Factory Girl,” subject of Dylan’s ire as referred to previously, has a website. On the bottom left of the webpage is a picture of Sienna Miller and Hayden Christensen, who play Edie Sedgwick and “Danny Quinn,” respectively. “Danny” is wearing a harmonica holder in the shot. His entire look — although admittedly this is just one still shot — is surely far closer to Bob Dylan than to Mick Jagger or Jim Morrison, who are the other suggested members of the “composite” character. In fact, there’s no hint of Jagger or Morrison about his look.

Edie and the voice of a generation

And just to put the final nail in, this is an extract of text from the film’s synopsis on that page:

Edie has the world at her feet. Every woman wants to be her. Every man wants to be with her. But unable to find the love she craves from Andy and The Factory Edie turns to the “voice of a generation” singer-songwriter Danny Quinn, a captivating and talented musician who represents everything that Andy is not - where Andy is all cool surfaces, Danny burns with the fire of his convictions. Danny pushes Edie to free herself from Andy, who has been using her in his movies but never paying her. Edie quickly falls for Danny, but every affair has its price …

(bolding mine)

Who does that sound like to you? Shepard Smith?

The filmmakers seem to have given up nothing, in terms of their desire to portray Bob Dylan as the character who breaks Sedgwick’s heart, even after the warning from Dylan’s lawyers two years ago; nothing, that is, but the name itself. If the film is released, and to the extent anyone sees it, “Danny Quinn” will be perceived as being Bob Dylan just as surely as “Johnny Fontaine” in “The Godfather” is always perceived as being Frank Sinatra.
