Another side of Bob and more!

One more night, I will wait for the light
While the wind blows high above the tree.
Oh, I miss my darling so,
I didn't mean to see her go,
But tonight no light will shine on me.

“Factory Girl” cont’d ...11:55 am

I haven’t seen any updates on the legal moves by Dylan’s lawyers against the film “Factory Girl,” the Edie Sedgwick biopic which portrays a character very like Dylan breaking Sedgwick’s heart and driving her to suicide (previous post here). The film is still due to begin screening in LA and New York on December 29th in order to be eligible for the Oscars (it gets an approving mention from Roger Friedman here.) A trailer for the film can be viewed at this link. The “Danny Quinn” character appears halfway through, and it’s clear to see and hear that not only is Hayden Christensen made up to look like Dylan, but he is affecting a Dylan-type voice as well. There’s no hint of any “composite character,” i.e. a Jagger/Morrison/Dylan combination, which is the basis on which the film-makers proceeded after being warned by Dylan’s lawyers two years ago not to portray the character as Bob.

A character called Lou Reed is also in the film. The real Reed is not apparently suing, but is criticizing. From Rolling Stone:

Lou Reed has referred to the makers of Factory Girl as “whores” and stated that an early version of the script he read was “one of the most disgusting, foul things [he´d] seen — by any illiterate retard — in a long time.” Adding, “there´s no limit to how low some people will go to write something to make money.” When asked to comment, the film´s director George Hickenlooper pointed out that while those working on the film are working for scale, Reed would be making some money off the film, as they´ve licensed some of his songs.
