Another side of Bob and more!

He got a sweet gift of gab, he got a harmonious tongue
He knows every song of love that ever has been sung
Good intentions can be evil
Both hands can be full of grease
You know that sometimes Satan comes as a man of peace

Bob Dylan at the White House moved up to TODAY ...2:47 pm

The show celebrating the music of the Civil Rights movement, scheduled for tomorrow, has been moved up to today, due to an impending snow storm which will be hitting the area hardest tomorrow. (See the White House website here.) It is now scheduled to go off at 8 pm Eastern Time tonight. You should be able to watch live by going to this link at the White House site.

So, count this show as just one more victim of climate change. That is, the global cooling that has turned the weather in Washington D.C. into something more like Juno Juneau, Alaska (and Sarah Palin doesn’t even live there yet!). I wonder if all the scheduled artists will be able to make it at 8 pm this evening.

I am counting myself as a casualty of this, because I’m not going to be able to watch it live tonight — I have other plans. Maybe I’ll be able to rig something. In any case, a recorded version will be broadcast on PBS stations in the United States. That was originally scheduled to be broadcast on Thursday evening; who knows if that will be changed too.

And the event titled “Music that Inspired the Movement Workshop” (which Dylan wasn’t scheduled to participate in, but Smokey Robinson and others were) is now set to go off in about 10 minutes, at 3 pm Eastern Time. You may be able to watch below, or at this link.

Addendum: For what it’s worth, while trying to watch a little of that workshop, I’ve been finding the live video streaming from the White House extremely unreliable. (Easy political crack: insert here.)
