Someone else being claimed for the left, by Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez:

In a symbolic move, the leader wore the presidential sash draped from his left shoulder instead of the traditional right, while swearing by Jesus Christ, calling him “the greatest socialist in history.”

Sorry — my lousy image editing skills notwithstanding — I just couldn’t resist.

Just wondering: Will the Vatican, which represents over a billion Catholics worldwide, including those many in Venezuela, take time out from condemning the execution of mass murderers to maybe pick a bone with Hugo over this? Chavez, for his part, is wasting no time in confronting the Church in Venezuela over their relatively mild criticims of him regarding the de-licensing of a television station there.
