“Worst president ever?” ...4:55 pm
By way of a timely follow-up to my post yesterday about Jimmy Carter’s revoltingly self-reverential eulogy for Gerald Ford, Hot Air jumps on a story about Jerry’s actual opinion of Carter. In 1981 he is quoted as saying:
I think Jimmy Carter would be very close to Warren G. Harding. I feel very strongly that Jimmy Carter was a disaster, particularly domestically and economically. I have said more than once that he was certainly the poorest president in my lifetime.
Certainly, Ford greatly softened his statements on the matter as he got older, as Allah Pundit acknowledges. Still, I guess that deals pretty effectively with Carter’s attempts to insinuate during that eulogy that Ford somehow endorsed every move of his administration.
